For those who think prison is a posh country club with great health care benefits. Even the guys on death row are so mired in despair that they're apparently killing themselves.
Imagine what it must be like if you are innocent...
Ryan has been confirmed as Director of ADC by the State Senate, by the way. It happened quietly a couple of weeks ago. He's the official state disciplinarian now.
This is the press release about the suicide; you can find all other death notices posted there, presumably. I'll post the others who died in ADC custody during the first quarter of 2010 at the end of the month. Guess I'm still figuring out how to deal with death, myself.

Death Row inmate commits suicide
Florence, Ariz. – Inmate James Adams, 46, ADC #131965, died while in Arizona Department of Corrections custody Sunday after apparently committing suicide. Adams, sentenced to death out of Maricopa County for 1st degree murder, was found hanging in his cell and pronounced dead at 3:29 p.m. Sunday. Adams came to ADC Nov. 12, 1997 and was held at the Browning Unit, ASPC-Eyman. The death is under investigation by the department.
